Two Small Pieces of Glass offers a stunning historical chronicle — from Galileo’s simple telescope developed 400 years ago to the latest discoveries in space — including interviews with the world’s leading astrophysicists. We’ll also envision the universe through the ages — and more recently through the eyes of science — by visiting ancient sites where our ancestors built great structures with special astronomical significance.

With amazing sound effects by George Lucas’ Skywalker Sound, the Starship Intrepid travels through hyperspace. You and its crew will put real science into science fiction and solve numerous challenges along the way. Find an alien technology and defend against the space pirates!

What’s happening in our night skies this month? Find out from staff and guest astronomers using our state-of-the-art planetarium equipment to view current astronomical objects and events in spectacular detail!

MacLean Observatory at Redfield Campus

We’re now holding free telescope viewing every Friday at the MacLean Observatory on the Redfield Campus, (see map), weather permitting. Call ahead for updates at (775) 784-4812.

Hours: Every Friday except July 5 (weather permitting) June-August, 9-11 p.m.
